Accessibility statement
We are working toward WCAG 2.1 AA. The site does not fully meet the standard today and we have published the known gaps below.
Norma Ltd is committed to making normamade.com accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of disability, assistive technology, or browsing context. This statement is honest about where we are in that work and where we still need to close gaps.
Our target standard
We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. This is the standard referenced by the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018. The site partially conforms today: several known failures listed below remain outstanding. Our target date for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance is 30 September 2026.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML: pages are built with appropriate heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and HTML elements that carry meaning for screen readers.
- Keyboard navigation: all interactive elements are reachable and operable by keyboard. Focus is visible at all times.
- ARIA labels: buttons, form fields, and icon-only controls carry descriptive ARIA labels where the visible text alone is insufficient.
- Colour contrast: body text and interactive elements meet the WCAG AA contrast ratios of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text.
- Responsive design: the site is fully usable at 320px viewport width and scales to large screens without horizontal scrolling.
- No motion by default on reduced-motion: animations and transitions are suppressed when the user has enabled the prefers-reduced-motion setting.
- Alt text: all meaningful images carry descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes.
Known limitations
We are aware of the following areas where accessibility is not yet fully resolved:
- Decorative placeholder images: some catalogue and editorial pages still render branded placeholder images with empty alt attributes pending the photography pass. Where the image carries meaning we are replacing the placeholder with a described version.
- Live region coverage: a few asynchronous updates (filter results, cart additions, form submission status) do not yet announce through aria-live regions. We are auditing every async surface and adding the appropriate polite or assertive live region before the 30 September 2026 target.
- Tab components: two tab interfaces are missing aria-controls bindings between the tab and its panel. The fix is in the shared component library and will land across every consumer in the same pass.
- Support chat widget: our in-house support chat is a form that files a ticket. Some keyboard navigation flows within it do not yet fully meet WCAG AA. The fix is in progress against the 30 September 2026 target. In the meantime, you can reach our support team by emailing hello@normamade.com directly.
- Product builder (canvas): the drag-and-drop design builder uses an HTML canvas and is not fully navigable by keyboard. We are developing a form-based alternative for users who cannot use the canvas. Until this is available, please contact our team and we will configure your order manually.

Technical information
This site is built with Next.js (server-side rendered HTML), React, and Tailwind CSS. We test keyboard navigation manually and run automated accessibility checks using axe-core as part of our continuous integration pipeline. We also conduct periodic manual reviews using NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS.
